If you have an outdated home or one in a state of disrepair, property refurbishments can make them more useable, functional and suited to modern living. By repairing and retrofitting your home, or your commercial property, builders improve its appearance and its feel. We always work to the individual requirements of the customer, detailing all alterations, building work, decorating and costings into our quotation.
Located in Arundel, we undertake property refurbishments in the Chichester, East Preston, Pagham, Pulborough and Wittering areas, and across all locations in West Sussex and the South.
A refurbishment and a renovation are not one and the same thing. To renovate something is to restore its condition or state of repair. To refurbish something is to clean, equip or retrofit. People use both terms interchangeably when, in fact, both types of building work are quite different. The builders at Arundel & South Downs Renovations Ltd specialise in both.
The first stage of property refurbishments and renovations is to work out what needs doing. If a home needs any structural repairs, it is important to carry these out first to ensure any further building work has a solid foundation. While we primarily work as builders, our company has strong relationships with other tradesmen in Arundel, Chichester, East Preston, Pagham, Pulborough, Wittering and the surrounding areas.
If you need any electrical, plumbing or gas engineering work added to your quotation, this won’t be a problem.
Our refurbishment and renovation services include:
- A site visit, survey and consultation on the feasibility of property refurbishments. Where required, we produce drawings, a project specification and, of course, a quotation.
- Preliminary building work begins with stripping individual rooms or the entire property back to basics, and then making any alterations to the layout or the physical structure.
- Our builders and tradesmen refurbish electrical, plumbing and heating supplies, replace the insulation, repair or replace doors and windows, and install fixtures and fittings
- Upon completion of any repair or retrofitting work, we make good the walls, the ceilings and the flooring. From there, we plaster and decorate to achieve the most professional finish.
Prior to starting property refurbishments and renovations, we check with local authorities in the Arundel, Chichester, East Preston, Pagham, Pulborough and Wittering areas to see if the proposed building work falls inside permitted development rights. If it doesn’t, we can help and advise you on your application for planning permission. With our involvement, you can usually obtain the required approvals much sooner.
If refurbishments impact a shared wall with another property, we can again advise you on having a Party Wall Agreement signed with your neighbours. You must have all approvals, permissions and agreements in place before our builders can start work on a property refurbishment or renovation project.
